Butterflies & Caterpillars

Our Butterflies and Caterpillars are Pre-K students. These classes focus on Kindergarten readiness skills. Each day students enjoy learning with a teaching style we call "play with a purpose". Daily activities may include seat work involving worksheets for math and writing skills, center activities and educational games.  Arts and crafts are used daily to help children learn to follow directions and develop fine motor skills. All classroom activities focus around the letter and number of the week. The end-of-year goals for these classes include each child writing his/her first and last name, recognition, sound and writing of all letters of the alphabet. Goals also include math skills such as counting, one-to-one correspondence, patterning, shapes and colors. Prayer and discussions about the Bible story take place each day.  We also have indoor/outdoor recess, and we worship each day during chapel. Children bring a lunch from home. Butterfly and Caterpillar students learn responsibility by performing jobs each day. They also learn about cooperation by working together on projects and activities.
